Training description
The LSEG Workspace Financial Markets and Corporate Data Analysis microcredential equips learners with core financial knowledge and competencies for analysing corporate data using LSEG Workspace (formerly Eikon) as a practical, real‑world analytical platform. Designed by academic researchers, this accessible and self-paced eLearning program helps participants master essential concepts across the full spectrum of finance - from macroeconomics and financial markets to currencies, equities, and mergers & acquisitions. Participants also gain practical expertise in analysing corporate structures, ownership networks, ESG performance, value chains, and significant corporate events.
Training programme outline
Total duration: 12 hours (2 days × 6 hours)
Module 1: Financial Markets (6 hours)
• Introduction to LSEG Workspace: platform structure and core functionalities
• Fundamentals of capital markets
• Macroeconomic indicators and their interpretation using LSEG Workspace (inflation, GDP, interest rates, labour market, monetary policy)
• Foreign Exchange (FX) market: data retrieval, quotations, and volatility analysis
• Fixed Income: bonds, yields, yield curves
• Equities: market prices, market capitalisation, key indicators
• Application of market data in financial analysis
• Data handling in Excel: exporting data from LSEG Workspace and basic processing
• Practical exercises: portfolio analysis
Module 2: Corporate Data Analysis (6 hours)
• Company Overview and Fundamentals: company profiles, financial statements, peer comparison, ownership structure
• Public Information Book: generating company reports
• Industry App: sector benchmarking and comparative analysis
• Company Tree Structure App: analysis of corporate group structure (parent company, hierarchy levels, geographic scope)
• Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A): identification and analysis of transactions
• Value Chains App: analysis of supplier–customer relationships
• ESG Data: ESG scoring methodology and benchmarking
• Significant Developments: identification of key corporate and sector events
• Case study: comprehensive analysis of a selected company using LSEG Workspace applications

The programme is based on hands-on work with LSEG Workspace, combining theoretical foundations with practical data analysis tasks.

Formal and substantive conditions that must be met in order to participate in another form of education:
The training is carried out within the framework of the Summer School Summer ECLIPSE "Summer Educational Courses in Łódź – Institutional Paradigm in Economic Studies" (NAWA Spinaker, agreement P251120000259NW00). The program is aimed at two categories of participants:
– students of partner universities of the Faculty of Economics and Sociology at the University of Łódź, affiliated with the UNIC network (limit: 40 people),
– students of the Faculty of Economics and Sociology at the University of Łódź (limit: 8 people).
A condition for participation in the course is admission to the Summer School Summer ECLIPSE program.
The total limit of places is 48 people.
Participation requires completing the recruitment procedure conducted within the SPINAKER summer school program. The course is part of the summer school. The program is conducted in English, therefore readiness to work in this language is required (knowledge of English at least at B2 level, no certificate confirmation is required) as well as basic knowledge of economics. It is essential to have basic digital skills enabling work with databases and MS Office analytical software (no certificate confirmation is required). Access to a computer, the Internet, the MS Office suite, and an active LSEG Workspace license available at the Faculty of Economic and Sociological Sciences is necessary.
Mode of participation and form of education:
Education takes the form of training and is conducted stationary.
Type of classes – laboratory, computer course.
Training hours: 2-day training conducted for a total of 12 hours
Group division:
The training is available for a maximum of 48 people. Participants will be divided into two groups of 24 people each.
Group 1:
• Module 1: Financial markets;
• Module 2: Corporate data analysis.
Group 2:
• Module 2: Corporate data analysis;
• Module 1: Financial markets.
Name of the Qualification Obtainable Within This Form of Education
Verification of applications based on the declared knowledge of English at a minimum B2 level (certificate confirmation is not required) and enrollment in economics programs (ISCED 0311 – Economics). Candidates are required to present a certificate of student status. After meeting the above criteria, admission will be determined by the order of applications (40 places for international students and 8 places for students of the Faculty of Economics and Sociology at the University of Łódź).
